This came as a surprise today but Oklahoma City FC will be a new NASL expansion team joining in 2015. They won out over a USL Pro group today to rent the soon to be rebuilt Taft Stadium (7500 Capacity).

Sounds like a solid group and team for NASL :

They had been mentioned in the past. Congrats to Oklahoma City! There may be more than one for 2015.

NASL slowly moving out west...ish. Good to see.

I wonder how the table is going to work with the added teams in 2014/15. Do they move to a conference based format, or keep the table?

We lose Parker to OKC in 2015. Anyway…

REJOICE, for we have a new team. I can only hope this owner is as good as any. Also, they beat out an owner that wanted to bring in a USL team, too bad the article doesn't elaborate on why one was chosen over the other.

Pro-USL owner also owns the Barons, who in their defence are a decent hockey team, but that connection to the Oilers just gives me that hint of doubt

Oklahoma City FC's current average USL PDL attendance is 1,149 (four matches).

David downs stated that the NASL mission statement implied a National League. whether that's actually doable remains to be seen.
As it stands Oklahoma would make 12 confirmations for 2015, if PRI make a return to NASL. That would be a 22 game regular season. That been he case I would Predict a return to a standard Home and Away format with the summer breaks retained, for Friendlies and/or a Top 8 knockout cup tournament (would be complete over 3 weeks). Winner takes Soccer bowl 1st finalist spot; Second finalist is determined to be the winners of the Regular season.

Alternatively, given enough teams (24 to 30) I could see an East and West conferences system working, but only If they stay competitively separate until playoff time. In the Playoffs, top 8 in each conference qualify: 8th in East plays 1st in West. through 4 rounds until the Grand Final. season is done in 33 games and no one has played an Irregular schedule.
Personally I don't like cross conference games imposing into your regular schedule as you are looking at the same set up as MLS and all the other North American sport entertainment Leagues. Something I understood the NASL was trying not to do.

We have other Keepers. Okay they're not drop dead gorgeous, but more that capable in the sticks

Curious to see if more teams are added for 2015 when the official announcement drops in July.

NASL needs to be careful not to expand too quickly as well. After 2015, perhaps bringing in 0 or 1 team a year, and stabilizing the existing markets is the best strategy.

I would agree with that. Also as the quality develops it makes the league more desirable. creating some exclusivity can help with this.
