Very good question. Whenever a team joins from the NASL or the USL it is called "a new franchise." And for the most part, the history of the team is ignored. If you look at Wikipedia sites, they have pages for Whitecaps NASL and then another for Whitecaps MLS. Same for the Sounders, the Impact, the Timbers, etc... I think they are a new entity when they enter the MLS.

all of which seems a shame.

Leads me to strike up the true MLS song, <to the tune of Guantanamera>

Here for the money,
We only here for your money,

Here - for - your - money,
We only here for your money. :)

It doesn't bother me at all if the MLS becomes one of the most stable soccer league in the world. Series A almost faceplanted twice last year.

I've watched a few Serie A games this year and I'm embarrassed for them in how empty a lot of their stadiums are

Vancouver Whitecaps.

Three teams in order of who I'd cheer for in matches between each other:

1. Leeds United AFC
2. FC Edmonton
3. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
